A musical drama based on Shalom Aleichem’s novel

When you think of Yiddish, you think of ” Mottl, Peysi the Cantor’s Son “,

a timeless Literary work of Shalom ben Menachem Nachum Rabinovitch [1859-1916], known by the pen name Shalom Aleichem, one of the Yiddish giants of all time.

The Yiddishpiel Theater presents the piece in a new musical arrangement with a live klezmer orchestra on stage, Led by the great Yaacov Bodo.

Memories of Mottl, Peysi the Cantor’s Son, is the story of immigration.

From Kasrilevke, in Russia to New York, United States, essentially presenting the fate and story of the Jewish people at the beginning of the 20th century.

Through the innocent eyes of a boy, Mottel, who was orphaned by his father, we learn about the life of the community, their aspirations, hardships, poverty, fears, and social situation, and about the tortuous path they went through those who decided to immigrate to America.

This is a story of a Jewish boy, touching, sweet, smart, and funny story from the point of view of a child [Yonathan Rosen] and of that child in his adulthood [Yankel’a Budo],

A story about a world that was lost.
