A musical play based on Mordechai Gebirtig songs
By Yehoshua Sobol
Velvl and Berl (Bodo-Kashker) and the Yiddishpiel Theater’s acting ensemble take us on an enchanted journey to an era before the Holocaust into the obscurity of the rich and colorful culture of Jewish Europe that was completely wiped out in World War ll. The play was written based on the songs of the great Jewish troubadour Mordechai Gebirtig. Some of his songs, which were once hits in Central Europe, are still recognized and sung today.
Don’t miss this theatrical experience – come and enjoy the play in which the heart longs for a song.
